IBM Brand films
A selection of films I helped produce during my time on the IBM Brand team, based out of the company’s then very shiny & new NYC marketing design studio.
What I did:
IBM Plex film
After years of development, IBM was ready to unveil its own typeface, IBM Plex. To debut the project both internally and externally to the design community, our team created an introduction film showcasing the strategy, inspiration, and development of the Plex typeface.
Working closely with Mike Abbink, I created all the motion graphics for the film, translating the team’s documentation into segments that detail the anatomy and finer details of Plex. I also helped to refine the overall narrative for the film, and produced graphics used to shoot the primary scenes.
IBM Pride logo film
To celebrate Pride 2017, IBM released an LBGTQ version of its iconic eight-bar logo. To amplify this, our team created a short film with IBM brand design executive Todd Simmons. I created all the motion graphics for the film, which focused on showing the individual colors of the LBGTQ flag and how those colors comprise the logo.
The logo was applied mainly across social media, but had especially high visibility on LinkedIn, where IBM has a significant audience of over 5 million followers.
IBM Blockchain
In the fall of 2017, IBM was preparing to launch a new business unit focused entirely on blockchain solutions for enterprise. The team at Athletics was nearing completion on the brand design for IBM Blockchain, and our team was asked to help produce an animated video to launch the brand on social.
I saw this project through from start to finish, first by developing the business case narrative with the Blockchain marketing team, to developing the art direction in collaboration with the team at Athletics, and then executing the design and animation of the video in its entirety.
Eye On __ Docuseries
Focused on art, science, and technology, the Eye On series aimed to tell worthwhile stories of both IBMers and those in our surrounding community through documentary-style films. As a multi-part series, the films needed an overall visual style and titles to tie them together.
IBM is Making - SXSW Film Titles
At SXSW 2017, IBM had its biggest presence at the festival to date with the IBM is Making exhibition. As part of IBM’s programming, our team was asked to premiere two of the films we had been working on as part of the Good Fellows series. I created opening titles that connected the films visually to the overall branding experience for the event.
