KIC (Knowledge & Innovation Community)
Shui On Land’s KIC development is one of the oldest and arguable one of the most successful placemaking projects in modern China.
20 years ago, the project site sat in a neglected industrial heartland of Shanghai’s Yangpu district. However, this area of the city is packed with a history of technological, educational, and economic importance in China’s history.
Using those roots, Shui On developed KIC into a crossroads development between major corporation technological campuses and actual college campuses in the immediate vicinity.
To celebrate this successful legacy and usher in a new wave of tenant activity, JWDK was asked to redesign KIC’s brand identity as well as a bespoke visual identity specifically for the 20th annversary of the project.
I led one of those proposed design directions, which has turned out to be one of my personal favorite projects across a wide variety of visual expressions & components.
